Echo / Second Chance

Wayne Dobson
Available from www.waynedobson.co.uk
Price: £10 each

Echo is Wayne Dobson’s alternative version of his own ‘Teach a Card Trick’. The basic effect was inspired by Karrel Fox where you teach a spectator a card trick giving them obvious verbal cues along the way, and at the climax neither the spectator nor the audience have a clue how it’s done.

Wayne’s original version utilised a specially made wooden card box, however this new alternative version requires very little props and set-up. The booklet is nicely produced and every last bit of Wayne’s ingenious scripting and routining is included so all you have to do is learn it. If you take the time to master this you’ll be guaranteed 10 minutes of great comical entertainment! Great value.

‘Second Chance’ is Wayne’s second new booklet containing 3 effects: Second Chance, PenUltimate and An Amazing Tale.

The booklet starts off with Second Chance: A blue backed deck is removed from its case. The spectator is asked to think of a card and to remove it and place it in their pocket. They then replace the pack in its box. You then remove a red backed deck from its case and explain you will try and remove the same card they merely thought of. When you remove the card from the red deck the spectator states that it is incorrect. You ask for a second chance to prove you were correct. You turn over the card and written on the back is their thought of card. Nice!

Next is ‘PenUltimate’. This is a streamlined version of ‘Sharpie’ which was described in Wayne’s book WD40 and is a great little trick with a clever little method that’s definitely worth a read.

Finally, there’s ‘An Amazing Tale’. Wayne's ownl scripting for his version of the Gypsy Thread trick which was originally shown on his TV series ‘A Kind of Magic’. You just get the scripting with this one, there’s no method. However most will already know the workings of this classic effect and if not it has been published many times over the years. Again this is a nicely produced 12pp booklet which I highly recommend. PS

What's Hot: great value for money
What's Not: nothing really!
Star rating: ****
