Twister Continuum

Stephen Tucker
Available from: www.bigblindmedia.com
Price: £19.99

Mention the word ‘Twister’ to most people between the ages of 30 and 40 and they’ll tell you tales of drunken student parties playing the cult 80’s board game all tangled naked with lots of lovely ladies...or maybe that's just me?

Swiftly moving on... ‘Twister Continuum’ is Stephen Tucker’s latest offering to the magic world. Produced by Big Blind Media (BBM) this is a great packet trick(s) that utilises a gimmicked card. BBM have been so kind as to supply the necessary gimmick with the DVD, however, you will need to make quite a few extra versions of the gimmick to perform all the routines taught on the DVD. Don’t be put off by this as it’s really easy to make, and is explained in depth.

So what’s all the fuss about? Well here’s the basic routine: You start by holding four cards (Kings), which one by one begin to turn face up after a magical twist is given. Next, you blow on the cards and magically they jump to your pocket. The four cards in your hands are now shown to be the four Aces. All the cards are examinable! This is just one of the nine routines performed and taught in comedic fashion by Stephen and BBM’s Owen Packard.

This may sound like many other packet tricks that have been on the market before, but the ‘Twister Continuum’ gimmick is so versatile. All the routines are really easy to perform and there are no knuckle busting moves to learn. The results are amazing too.

Of the nine routines I think one of my favourites is ‘Wild Twister’. This is Stephen’s version of the late Peter Kane’s master Wild Card effect. This routine allows you to be so far ahead by the time the cards start changing, that you could, if desired, start to throw in magician foolers for each individual transformation. Lots of fun could be had with this effect.

All the routines use the same basic handling, so if you master the first one on the DVD, ‘Twister’, you are pretty much guaranteed to be able to perform the other 8 routines without any problems.

In addition, there are two other ‘Bonus Routines’ included on the DVD. ‘Impromptu Missing Link’ which is Stephen’s take on Paul Harris’ linking card routine from Stars of Magic. This is really nice, visual, really easy and you will perform it, trust me!

The second is ‘Snibbets Is ACAAN’. Ignoring the title, this is basically a thought of card at predicted number effect that is a real fooler. It’s not impromptu, but everything needed to perform this effect is on the DVD. It’s also easy to reset making it ideal for table hoppers. And it’s also a great way to give your business cards away. Hey, what more could you ask for?

The production of both the DVD and the box artwork is second to none as usual from BBM. All in all, this is another quality release from Big Blind Media. Recommended. PS

What's Hot: Great packet trick with lots of scope. And it ends totally clean!!
What's Not: Nothing, other than the repetition of the same twisting explanation starts to get a bit tiresome after about the 5th or 6th teaching
Star rating: ****
